How Long Is Cooked Ground Beef Good For?

Ground beef is incredibly versatile, but it doesn’t store safely for very long.  Learn how long cooked ground beef stays fresh and the telltale sign it's gone bad! 

According to the USDA, you should use cooked ground beef within 3 to 4 days and refrigerate at or below 40°F.

HOW LONG IS IT SAFE TO EAT GROUND BEEF?

Additionally, do not eat cooked ground beef that’s been left at room temperature for more than two hours!

Even after several weeks, cooked ground beef can look and smell fine — but on close examination, there is mold that could easily be missed and inadvertantly consumed!

WHAT IF IT LOOKS AND SMELLS FINE?

In other words, you CANNOT depend on your senses to know when ground beef has gone bad. Stick to 4 days at the most to avoid illness.

It's easier to tell if uncooked meat has gone bad. Here are signs you shouldn't ignore:  — Discoloration — Off-putting odor — Slimy, sticky, or dry texture — Past the expiration date
