HOW MANY WINGS IN A POUND?

Tips for Planning  Your Next Party

The short answer:  You can expect 10 chicken wings in one pound of uncooked drums and flats.

The long answer:  It depends on many factors you'll want to account for when party portion planning.  Read on to learn more!

If you’re getting a mix of uncooked drums and flats — AKA "party wings" — expect 6-9 pieces/pound (8-12 pieces if cooked).

If you're getting whole wings, expect 4-5 raw pieces/pound (6-8 wings if cooked). Personally, I prefer whole wings where the drum, flat, and wing tip are all intact.

If you’re serving them as an appetizer, factor in 2-3 whole wings, or 4-6 party wings,  per person.

For a main course, you're looking at up to 8-10 whole wings, or 16-20 party wings, per person,

Grilling or smoking is a great way to cook a large number of wings at once for a party or event. But my favorite method for cooking wings, hands down, is the sous vide.
