When serving steak, 8 ounces per person is a good rule of thumb. But all steaks are not created equal! 

Here's what you need to consider for successful  portion-planning and meal-prep for 5 popular cuts.

Both meaty and tender, a 1½ -inch thick, 32-ounce T-bone can feed 2 to 4 people.

T-BONE STEAK

Among the best steak cuts, one tenderloin steak varies between 1 and 1½ inches and, at about 8oz, is good for serving one person.

TENDERLOIN STEAK

Both ribeye and rib steaks are 1½ inches thick (bone-in rib steaks can be 2 inches thick). A 32-ounce rib steak can  serve 2 people.

Ribeye & Rib Steak

Lean and flavorful, this flat cut weighs between 16 and 32 ounces, is about one inch thick, and is good for  feeding 2 to 4 guests.

Flank Steak

Boneless, marbled, and juicy, this steak is commonly known as the New York strip . Typically weighing 12 to 16 ounces, this cut is 1½ inches thick and can serve 1 to 3 people.
